Travelling by car from the North:
From the M1 Motorway take Junction 10 (N51 for Slane and Drogheda
North). At the top of the ramp take the first left off the roundabout
(N51 Drogheda). Take a right at the next roundabout (R168 Mell). Go
straight through the next roundabout and continue on this road passing
through Mell village and down the hill into Trinity Street. Pass a
car park on the right and about 150m past this take a left turn just
after McCloskey’s Bakery. Continue up the hill past the right turn
and Tiernan House is a new 2-storey office building on your right.
Boyne Research Institute's brass plate is beside the door. Ring the
bell for entry.
Travelling by car from the South:
From the M1 Motorway take Junction 10 (N51 for Slane and Drogheda
North). At the top of the ramp turn right onto the roundabout and
go over the motorway. At the next roundabout take the first exit for
the N51 Drogheda North. Take a right at the next roundabout (R168
Mell) and follow the instructions above.
Please note that there is a toll on this road between Junctions
7 and 10. To avoid the toll come off the motorway at Junction
7 (R132 Julianstown, Drogheda South, Laytown). At the top of the ramp
turn right onto the roundabout and go over the motorway. At the next
roundabout go straight and continue on this road passing through Julianstown.
Continue on for about 15km passing straight through 2 roundabouts
until you pass the bus station on your left. Continue on straight
(in left lane); the road veers to the right over the Peace Bridge.
Take the second left after the Peace Bridge into the Fair Green, just
after Dominic's Takeaway. Continue to the end of Fair Green and turn
right; Tiernan House is the first building on the right.
Travelling by bus:
Bus Eireann,
the state-run bus service, provides a service from Dublin to Drogheda.
Take the number 101
or 100x
to Drogheda bus station which has a terminal on the Donore Road, at
the junction with the Dual Carriageway (see map below). From here
walk via the Dual Carriageway to the Peace Bridge. Take the second
left after the Peace Bridge into the Fair Green, just after Dominic's
Takeaway. Continue to the end of Fair Green and turn right; Tiernan
House is the first building on the right. This is about a 5 minute
walk.
Matthews
Bus:
Matthews is a private company that runs buses between Dublin and Drogheda.
Buses run regularly - see
timetable. The bus starts in Parnell Street in Dublin and drops
off at a few points in Drogheda. The most convenient drop-off for
the Boyne Research Institute is outside Dominic's Takeaway, just at
the entrance to the Fair Green. Turn left into Fair Green and continue
to the end of Fair Green and turn right; Tiernan House is the first
building on the right.

is beside McDonald's at the Waterside on the Dual Carriageway, nearly
across the road from the Donore Road Bus Eireann station.
Travelling by train:
The train runs from Connolly Station in Dublin to Drogheda. The station
is about 15 minutes from the middle of the town. Taxis are sometimes
available outside the station. On foot walk down the hill into the
town. Pass the entrance to Scotch Hall parking on the right. Continue
past the bus station on the left, and proceed as above.
Travelling from the airport:
Taxis are available from the forecourts directly outside Terminal
1 and Terminal 2. Passengers should follow Taxi signage to the designated
taxi ranks. A taxi dispatcher is available at either taxi rank if
you require any further information or assistance.
Bus Eireann provides an express bus, 100X (to Drogheda and Dundalk),
that reaches the airport at 20 minutes past the hour - see
timetable. The bus stops at Stop No. 9/10 in the Coach Park at
the airport. The Coach Park is opposite Terminal 1, through the multi-storey
parking building (See Dublin airport map here.)
From Terminal 2, the Coach Park is to the left. The trip takes about
45 minutes and drops at the Donore Road bus station in Drogheda. From
there proceed as for travelling by bus. Details of fares can be found
